The Academics Forum – Libyan International University

Welcome to the official digital platform of The Academics Forum. This platform has been established to serve as a safe, interactive, and professional academic space for graduate students, faculty members, and researchers. Our goal is to facilitate knowledge exchange, enhance the quality of scientific research, and discuss issues related to sustainable development and community impact.

To ensure we achieve these goals and maintain a high-quality academic environment, we require all members to read and adhere to the following comprehensive policies:

1. General Code of Conduct

We are building a community based on mutual respect, professionalism, and academic rigor. All members are expected to uphold the following standards:

Mutual Respect: Treat all members with courtesy and professionalism. Constructive criticism is highly encouraged, but it must strictly target ideas, methodologies, and research—never the individual.
Zero Tolerance for Harassment: The use of offensive language, defamation, bullying, hate speech, or discrimination of any kind (based on race, gender, religion, or background) is strictly prohibited.
Authenticity and Identity: To build trust and credibility within our scientific community, we strongly encourage members to use their real names and accurately state their academic affiliations in their profiles.

2. Posting and Content Guidelines

To maintain the quality and accessibility of our discussions, please follow these guidelines when creating topics or replying:

Relevant Content: Discussions must remain focused on academic, research, and professional topics. Political, religious, or personal debates that fall outside the scope of scientific research and the club’s objectives are not permitted.
Appropriate Categorization (Tags): Ensure your discussions are posted using the correct tags (e.g., Research Discussions, Conference Announcements, Job Opportunities).
Clear Titles: Use descriptive and clear titles for your posts. Avoid vague titles such as "Urgent Help Needed" or "Important Question."
No Spam or Commercial Advertising: Unauthorized commercial advertisements, self-promotion of non-academic services, and repetitive posting of the same topic across multiple tags are strictly forbidden.
Formatting: Use the platform’s markdown formatting tools (bolding, bullet points, quotes) to make long posts or research excerpts easy to read.

3. Academic Integrity and Intellectual Property

As an academic community, we hold scientific integrity in the highest regard:

Attribution and Citation: When sharing information, texts, statistics, or ideas that are not your own, you must properly cite the original source and author.
Plagiarism: Any attempt to publish others' work and claim it as your own is a severe violation and will result in immediate disciplinary action.
Copyright Compliance: Do not upload or share pirated books, paid journals, or copyrighted materials. We encourage sharing Open Access materials, official links, and utilizing the "Fair Use" principle (quoting limited excerpts for the purpose of critique and discussion).

4. Privacy and Data Protection

No Doxxing: Publishing the personal or private information of other members (such as personal phone numbers or home addresses) without their explicit consent is strictly prohibited.
Research Confidentiality: Members are responsible for protecting their own unpublished research or sensitive data. The platform is not liable for the premature disclosure of research ideas shared publicly by the author.
Data Usage: The administration of The Academics Forum and the Libyan International University respects your privacy. We will not sell or share members' data or email addresses with third parties for commercial purposes.

5. Membership Roles

As per the bylaws of The Academics Forum, platform permissions and groups in Flarum may vary based on membership type:

Active Members: Graduate students and faculty of the Libyan International University.
Affiliate Members: External researchers and interested professionals.
Honorary Members: Distinguished scientific figures.

6. Moderation and Disciplinary Actions

The Administrative Committee and appointed Moderators reserve the right to edit, move, or delete any content that violates these guidelines. In accordance with Article (4) of the Organizational Bylaws, violations will be handled through a graduated disciplinary process:

Warning: A verbal or written warning to guide the member toward correcting the violation.
Temporary Suspension: For repeated or moderate offenses, the member's account may be temporarily suspended (restricted from posting) for a specified period.
Permanent Ban and Membership Revocation: In cases of severe violations (e.g., intentional academic plagiarism, severe harassment, or compromising the university's integrity), the account will be permanently banned, and the membership will be officially revoked with a justified decision.
